    Bass first

The upright bass sits in the middle of the mix where most rap records put the kick. Q-Tip sounds relaxed even when he is being sharp. Still the template.

Two guitarists listening to each other more than playing. Diaraby is the one I keep going back to.

Thirty-one tracks, most under two minutes, and it never feels like a sketchbook. Every loop is finished and then it is gone. Hard not to hear it as a goodbye.
